Called "Bob" Robert N. Parrish, prominent citizen of Berrien (now Cook) County in his day, was born July 1 7, 1806 in Bullock County, a son of Joel Parish and nephew to Henry Parrish. He came with hi s Uncle Henry and family to Lowndes County about 1824-25, and was married there Feb. 14, 1828 , to Nancy McCranie, daughter of Daniel McCranie. She was born May 31, 1808, in Montgomery Co unty, and died Nov.13, 1879. Mr. Parrish with the exception of two years spent in the 1860' s in Valdosta (where he was in the merchantile business) lived in Berrien (now Cook) County u ntil his death Feb.4, 1889. His home was located about six miles west of present town of Spar ks on the old Macon-Troupville public road better known as the old Union Road (plantation i n recent years owned by Lewis Rentz, circa; 1958), but he later sold that place and settle d a few miles to the south where he had a fine plantation and lived there until his death. Ro bert N. Parrish was a private in Capt. Hamilton W. Sharpe's volunteer militia company in th e Indian War in 1836, and suffered a slight wound in the engagement atBrushy Creek in presen t Cook County. He served as 1st Lt., 776th MilitiaDistrict, Lowndes County, 1839-41, and as R eceiver of Tax Returns of Lowndes 1837-38. In 1856 he was cut out of Lowndes into Berrien Cou nty (territory placed in Cook County in 1918). Mr. Parrish and his wife were members of the Primitive Baptist Church at Salem now in the Cit y of Adel, and were buried in the Church Cemetery. He was originally a member of Midway Primi tive Baptist Church in Irwin County but transferred by letter March 17, 1838 to Pleasant Chur ch. His wife then united with Pleasant, Sept. 20, 1840, and was baptized. They transferred b y letter May 17, 1859 to Salem. Ansel L. Parrish, their son, enlisted June 14, 1861, in Co. " I", 112th GaVolunteer Regiment (Infantry)and died of disease at Camp Alleghany, VA., in Jul y of 1861. References; 1830, 1840, 1850, Lowndes; 1860, 1870, Berrien;Huxford--Pioneers of GA.

Ezekial Parrish was born Nov. 15, 1828, in Bullock County, son of Absalom Parrish. He was mar ried there Nov. 2, 1848, to Sarah H. Jones, born Sept.13, 1840, died March 29, 1922. Her pare nts were Basil Jones and Deborah Bowen Jones, and her grandfathers were Bridger Jones and Eli sha Bowen. Mr. Parrish continued to live in Bullock County until about 1880 when he moved t o Berrien County and bought a farm and setled in the portion now in Cook County. About ten ye ars later he sold out and moved to Thomas County where he lived until his death, April 16, 19 00. Bulloch County Marriages, Book 2A, page 154, list the marriage ofHezikiah Parrish to Miss Sar ah Jones, November 2, 1848. The first marriage was on October 8, 1820 to Mary Williams, born May 7, 1807, died Nov. 1 9, 1825, daughter of James William, R.S. By her three children were born. The second wife was Elizabeth Green of Bullock County, born June 17, 1807; married 1827. B y her eleven children were born. Of these children ,Ezekial, Daniel and Ann Sophronia (Mrs. M onroe) moved to Berrien County. Absolom Parrish and his two wives were members of Upper Lott's Creek Primitive Baptist Church , Bullock County, and were buried in the Cemetery there. He died in 1875. Biography #1 JONES, BRIDGER - VOL.III: Bridger Jones, son of James and Mary Jones, and a g-g-grandson of C olonel Joseph Bridger (1628 - 1686), "Councillor of State of Virginia to King Charles 11", wa s born on August 11, 1759, probably in either Isle of Wight or Nansemond County. His grandfat her, Robert Bridger, in his will in 1763 made a small bequest to "my Grandson Bridger Jones" , then a lad of four. His mother, likely named for her mother and a name Jones gave his firs t daughter, was deceased by this time and was not named in the will. When about 18 he signed on the Galley Washington as a seaman. The galley was built at Sout h Quay on the Blackwater River, the western boundary of Isle of Wight and Nansemond. In Feb . 1777 the captain of the galley was instructed by the Virginia Navy Board to recruit a cre w in the locality, offering a bounty of twenty dollars and a half-dollar a day for seamen, i f they would ship for three years. Though intended to protect shipping in Ocracoke Inlet of f the North Carolina coast, it may have been Virginia's contribution to Gen. Robert Howe's ex pedition against the British in East Florida in 1778. The Washington, under Capt. John Hard y, participated in the capture of the British 14 - gun brig Hinchenbrook off Darien, on Apri l 19, and its crew shared the prize money derived from the sale of its assets at Sunbury in M ay. A provision return shows that ten men of the Washington, Lts. Hull Doty and John Bacon , a gunner, and seven seamen, including Bridger Jones, were provided dedrations in August 177 8 by Commodore Oliver Bowen of the Georgia Navy. Doty was from Onslow County, N.C. and may ha ve suggested Swansboro as a suitable place for young Jones to settle inasmuch as his father , James Jones, bought a lot in that seaport town in March 1779. Meanwhile, the father had re married and was following the trade of tailor when he died early in 1780. The court appointe d his widow, Rebecca, and his son, Bridger, to administer his estate. The war came to North Carolina when Lord Cornwallis, after theBritish suffered defeats at Kin gs Mountain and Cowpens, marched the army into that State. Bridger was commissioned a cornet * in the North Carolina militia and served in Capt .Robert W. Snead's company of lighthorse , Col. George Mitchell's Onslow regiment, Brig. Gen. Alexander Lillington's Wilmington Distr ict brigade. In August 1781, after Cornwallis marched northward from Wilmington, its command ant Nlaj. James Henry Craig made a raid on Newbern. On his return he was met by troops of L illington's brigade, including Mitchell's regiment, in an engagement in Tuckahoe Old Field ne ar Sanders' Bridge on Trent River in Jones County, and in it the British Captain Gordon of th e independent troop was killed. The details of Jones' other service are lacking. After the war he married Rachel Barry, a cousin of the future Governor Edward B. Dudley, an d an aunt of Col. James Buckner Barry noted Indian fighter and frontiersman, and moved acros s White Oak Riverto Jones County where he acquired much land patented by his wife's grandfath er, Samuel Noble, and lived a mile east of present Maysville until 1801 when he moved to Crav en County. In 1804 he sold his property and took his family and eight slaves to Georgia, sto pping first in Warren County for a year and then moved to Bulloch Countv and took up residenc e on Lotts Creek below present Statesboro. He served as Justiceof the Inferior Court, 180 8 - 1813. In 1815 he removed to a plantation between Ten and Fifteen Mile Creeks north of Ca noochee River and subsequently acquired several thousand acres where he lived until his deat h in September 1819. After the war, he continued to live in Onslow County until abo ut 1801, when he moved to theadjoining County of Craven where he bought a plantation on the e ast sideof Adams Creek in 1803. But a year later, in June, l804, he sold out andremoved to G eorgia, settling on Lotts Creek and Watering Hole branch inlower Bulloch County, from which p lace he moved in 1815 to what is nowCandler County, on the Canoochee River between Ten-Mile a nd 15-Mile Creeks, where he became a prosperous planter and slaveowner.
