Patrick, (Pat) Carmichael was born in County Down Ireland. The D.A.R.records gives 1744 as t he date of his birth. See Numbers 106730, 126274,and 122122, and N.S.C. A.R. Numbers 47068 , and D.A.R. Numbers 422449,369040, and 462189. Others say Pat was born in 1751, while stil l otherssay 1754. His tombstone say's he died in 1802, age 48 years, and twomonths. This to mbstone may have been bought by Mary Mars Carmichael,wife of William Carmichael with money le ft in William's will. Thetombstone was erected after Elizabeth died which was 33 years afte r Pat'sdeath. It is likely that a mistake was made by whoever had the tombstonemade and tha t it should be 58 years instead of 48 years. Some say he wasthrown from a mule and killed o n December 11, 1802, while others give thedate as November 24, 1802. Pat and Elizabeth are b uried in ProsperityCemetery in the edge of the town or Prosperity, S. C. Elizabeth was born in Brand, Ireland in 1749, and died September 21, 1835near Prosperity. So me give County Banks, Ireland as place of Elizabeth'sbirth. See Page 432 of the "Compendiu m of American Genealogy", v-5,Chicago, 111. by F. A. Virkus.
