KIRKLAND, JOHN. 1755-1805BULLOCH John Kirkland, a brother of Richard Kirkland, R. S. (see Vol. I),was born in South Caro lina in 1755, and about the close of theRevolutionary War moved to Effingham County, Georgia , with his family andothers of the family connection. His wife was named Keziah but hermaide n name has not been learned. There were nine children according tothe estate records of Bull och County, viz: 1. Ralph b.1777, m. (wife unknown). Removed to PulaskiCo., 1818. 2. Daniel b.1779, m. (wife unknown). 3. (daughter) b.1781? m. Coalson McCullers. 4. John b.1783, m. Elizabeth Lane, Dec. 14, 1799, dau.of Abr. S. 5. Sion b.1784 m. Sallie Lane, June 1, 1805, dau. ofAbr. S. 6. Richard W. b.1786, m. Levicy Williams, Sept. 24, 1804. 7 Dora Jane b.1788, m. William Irwin. 8 James b.1790, m. (wife unknown). 9. (daughter) b.1792? m. Wm. L. Perry. Mr. Kirkland was a Revolutionary soldier and patriot in South Carolina.Record is found wher e he was paid for supplies furnished the ContinentalArmy and the South Carolina Militia in 17 80-81. In the creation of BuIloch County out of Effingham in 1796, John Kirklandand family were cu t into the new county, and he died in Bulloch County in1805. His estate was administered b y his son, Ralph Kirkland, whoapplied for administration Oct. 16, 1805, and was appointed an d qualifiedDec. 2, 1805. Receipts by the above heirs, widow and children as shown,were give n the administrator in full for their shares of the estate,March 7, 1818. So far as known to the Compiler, the son, John, born 1783, and the sonRichard W., are the onl y ones of the above children having descendants inWiregrass Georgia, that is, the section emb raced by this book. Wm. L. Perry. Mr. Kirkland was a Revolutionary soldier and patriot in South Carolina.Record is found wher e he was paid for supplies furnished the ContinentalArmy and the South Carolina Militia in 17 80-81. In the creation of BuIloch County out of Effingham in 1796, John Kirklandand family were cu t into the new county, and he died in Bulloch County in1805. His estate was administered b y his son, Ralph Kirkland, whoapplied for administration Oct. 16, 1805, and was appointed an d qualifiedDec. 2, 1805. Receipts by the above heirs, widow and children as shown,were give n the administrator in full for their shares of the estate,March 7, 1818. So far as known to the Compiler, the son, John, born 1783, and the sonRichard W., are the onl y ones of the above children having descendants inWiregrass Georgia, that is, the section emb raced by this book.
